Islington Assembly Hall

The Rions - 22/05/26

We kicked off our bank holiday weekend in style on Friday, with a smashing set from The Rions, who pulled out half of the London-based Aussie population and gathered them into an extra-sweaty Islington Assembly Hall. Find the best photos below and come back soon to read our chat with the band!

Arriving in the UK for the last headline show of their world tour, The Rions arrived on the crest of their deluxe album release, with a generously lengthy setlist of two-week-old tunes as well as plenty of fan favourites.

Performing in the art-deco venue with a remarkably simple stage set-up, the four musicians needed only their instruments and a couple of water bottles to pump out tune after tune and get the entire venue moving straight into the party spirit.

Highlights were too many to number, though it seemed to be the lights up in 'Lobby Calls' giving the band a view of fans dancing right to the back of the balcony which marked the turning point - from the last stop after being 'Everywhere Every Single Day', to 'one of the most fun shows we've ever played'.

It's a privilege to watch a band experience their dream become reality half way across the world in real-time, greeted with arms open wide by London's crowd. The Rions' fans were sent home in the best of moods, that only a night of fantastic music - and a beckoning long-weekend heatwave - can cultivate... a perfect blend for a Friday night.
